Moldovan farmers cannot sell their grain harvest because of Ukraine

09.10.2022, Komrat.

Farmers in Moldova cannot sell their wheat harvest because traders have gone to Ukraine, Gagauzian agricultural producer Sergey Gonchar said on the air of Gagauziya Radio Televizionu on October 5.

There was almost no rain in the region, so there was no hope for a good harvest. This year’s harvest is less than that of 2021, the average yield was 25 centners per hectare, a Gagauz farmer said.

I want to say that wheat is out of demand. Why? Because mostly all traders have switched from Moldavia to purchase grain in Ukraine,” Gonchar said.

Ukraine severely reduced the price of grain, thus provoking the collapse of the market in Poland and Romania.
