Polish politician accuses Western Europeans of weak Russophobia

14.07.2022, Warsaw.

The residents of Western Europe are less anti-Russian than their governments, former Polish Prime Minister and opposition leader Donald Tusk said on July 14, according to wPolityce.pl informs.

He mentioned Spanish residents, who are not particularly concerned about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but are concerned about the skyrocketing bills for electricity and gasoline. In this case, the politician believes, support for Ukraine will decrease over time.

“The voice of public opinion in Western Europe is alarming. Today, governments and parties are more anti-Russian and pro-Ukrainian, and this is not the case with public opinion,” Tusk said.

The leader of the Polish liberals held up the residents of Poland, the Baltic States and Romania, whose Russophobia is unquestionable, as a positive example.

Before the beginning of the special military operation of Russia on denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine, the Polish liberal opposition had a less aggressive attitude towards Russia than the current authorities. After February 24, the authorities and the opposition in Poland began to compete in the level of Russophobia on the eve of the parliamentary elections of 2023.
