China warns Japan over imposing controls on semiconductors

29.04.2024, Beijing.

China will take measures to protect its companies if Japan imposes controls on semiconductor exports, China’s Ministry of Commerce told reporters on April 29.

The ministry said it had learned of Japan’s plans to impose export controls on semiconductors and other semiconductor-related goods. It expressed “serious concern” about Tokyo’s move.

“China will take necessary measures to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests [of its – Rossa Primavera News Agency] companies,” RIA Novosti quoted the ministry’s statement as saying.

The Ministry of Commerce stressed that the semiconductor industry is a highly globalized industry. In this regard, it emphasized that the Japanese measures will not only seriously affect the normal trade exchange between Chinese and Japanese companies, but will harm all parties, damaging the stability of the global supply chain.

Beijing urged Tokyo to correct the wrong practices and jointly maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
