18.04.2024, Munich.

Police in Germany detained two people on suspicion of working for the intelligence services of the Russian Federation and preparing sabotage, Der Spiegel wrote on April 18, citing sources in the prosecutor’s office.

It is suggested, “that they were monitoring US military bases and planning attacks on military transportation routes.” It is also reported that the detainees were monitoring aid to Ukraine from Germany.

The main suspects are Russian Germans: 39-year-old Dieter S. and supported by him 37-year-old Aleksander J. S. The publication writes that Russian intelligence services recruited them in 2023 to sabotage the ways of supplying weapons to Kiev.

Der Spiegel claims that they were involved in spying on US military facilities in Bavaria, including monitoring a base in Grafenwöhr where Ukrainian tankers are trained and fought on the side of the Donetsk People’s Republic between 2014 and 2016.
