29.03.2024, Dakar.

The French military should leave Senegal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye said on March 29 during his first address to the nation since winning the election.

Official Dakar should revise all existing agreements with Paris, he said.

“It is time for France to take its knee off our neck and put an end to this unjust oppression,” Faye said during his address.

Senegalese opposition leader Bassirou Diomaye Faye won the presidential election on March 24, 2024.

He won 54.25% of the popular vote in the first round. Faye’s main rival, ruling coalition candidate Amadou Ba, received 35.79% of the vote at the polls.
