Head of military recruiting center in Ukraine says that all residents of the country will be engaged in Ukrainian armed units

All residents of Ukraine will be involved in the Ukrainian armed units in various ways, said the head of the Lvov military recruiting center Galina Psikorskaya, the Franceinfo radio station informed on March 28.

“The war continues and will not end quickly… Ukrainians should realize that they will all be engaged in the Ukrainian armed units in one way or another,” Psikorskaya said.

Psikorskaya is the head of a “new generation” recruiting center that opened recently in Lvov. According to the radio station, there are plans to open at least 27 more such centers in Ukraine.

In light of the shortage of personnel and constant mobilization, Vladimir Zelensky called on the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Aleksandr Syrsky, to reconsider the approach to mobilization and redistribution of soldiers to involve about one million people who did not participate in combat.

Earlier, the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national security, defense and intelligence, Yegor Chernev, opposed the forced mobilization methods envisaged in the new draft law on conscription. In his opinion, Ukrainian citizens are scared off by the forceful actions of military enlistment officers. He stressed that recruitment should take precedence over mobilization.

In early February, Ukraine adopted a new draft law on mobilization. The second version does not include the conscription of disabled people but significantly toughens the procedure. Citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 during mobilization are required to carry military registration documents and present them at the request of military registration officers, police, or border guards. In addition, persons liable for military duty must report to military registration offices within 60 days after mobilization is announced to update their records.

Yuliya Timoshenko, the head of the Motherland party, declared the new mobilization bill unacceptable, calling it a crime against the country. Some MPs noted that the proposed draft law basically repeats the previous version and still contains inadmissible constitutional norms.
