Russia urges Britain to reveal its role in derailing talks with Kiev

The Russian embassy in London called on the British government to shed light on Britain’s role in disrupting the peace talks on Ukraine, the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission said on November 26.

The embassy stated that at one time the UK made a significant contribution to the failure of the parties to find a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian crisis. This turned out to be a tragedy for the Ukrainian statehood, its economy and population.

Diplomats asked the British authorities to comment on a recent statement by David Arahamiya, head of the faction of the pro-presidential Servant of the People party in the Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine, who said that during the negotiations, Boris Johnson, then British Prime Minister, flew to Kiev and forbade the Kiev authorities from signing anything with Russia and instead called for “just war.”

Would the UK government care to comment on Arahamiya’s statements?” – said at the Russian embassy.

During talks in Istanbul in late March 2022, Kiev confirmed its readiness to conclude the agreement on the terms of Ukraine’s neutral and non-aligned status and non-deployment of foreign troops and weapons, including nuclear weapons, on its territory.

The Russian side withdrew its troops in the Kiev and Chernigov regions in this regard, but Kiev has since refused to implement the agreements. Ukraine has been legally banned from holding talks with Russia since October 2022.
