The Russian army began to use a new loitering munition Skalpel in the zone of special military operation, TASS informed on November 18, citing a source in the Vostok design bureau.
“15 Skalpels were delivered to the zone of special military operation,” the agency quoted the interlocutor as saying.
According to the source, small-scale production of this type of ammunition in the amount of 20 pieces per month has already been established. “If necessary, the production can be significantly expanded,” he added.
The loitering munition Skalpel is an inexpensive analog of the famous Russian kamikaze drone Lantset. It is inferior to the Lantset in a number of characteristics but significantly wins in cost. The price of one product without payload is now ca. $3000.
