Residents of Lisichansk are waiting for Russian soldiers

02.04.2022, Starobelsk.

We have been patient, but we have waited and are waiting for the Russians, said a refugee from the town of Lisichansk in the LPR. RIA Novosti reported this on April 2.

While in a tent camp for refugees in Starobelsk, she said that the tesidents of Lisichansk are waiting for Russian soldiers and liberation.

“We are waiting and have been waiting. We are Russians. Despite the fact that I am Ukrainian and my husband is from the Rostov region – we are Russians. We protect Russians. I’m a Russian teacher, and it was very hard for us there all those years. Somehow we lived, somehow we endured,” the woman said.

A refugee shared the story of her family. Her father and her husband’s father fought heroically during the Great Patriotic War, and her grandchildren continued their cause.

“Our children were brought up on the traditions of our grandfathers, my father fought very heroically, his father fought, my father came home from the war disabled. Our grandchildren wore my father’s tunic with awards,” a resident of Lisichansk said.

Their son Anton was a factory worker, and in 2014 he joined the People’s Militia and became a machine gunner, defended Lisichansk and died in the same year.

“His call sign was Chekh. Maybe someone from those from Slavyansk will hear this,” the woman said.

She recalls that on leaving to fight, her son said he was for Russia and did not want his sons “living under the fascists.”
