Russian Defense Ministry: SBU prepares a provocation against the Russian Air Force in Dnepropetrovsk

19.03.2022, Moscow.

SBU officers are preparing a provocation at Dnepropetrovsk Hospital No. 2, Major General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, said at a media briefing on March 18.

According to the Defense Ministry, the Security Service of Ukraine has booby-trapped one of the buildings of Hospital No. 2 in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, which will be blown up during the overflight of the Russian Air Force aircraft.

“According to the reliable information we have, in Dnepropetrovsk employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, having evacuated the staff and medical patients, mined one of the buildings of the city hospital № 2 on Nigoyan street. The explosion of the mined hospital building was planned to be carried out during a flight over Dnepropetrovsk, I emphasize, any Russian aircraft,” Konashenkov said.

Konashenkov appealed to the Western media, invited by Ukraine to film the hospital provocation, that they were wasting their time, as the Russian Air Force has no combat missions over Dnepropetrovsk, especially in the area of civilian facilities such as the hospital.

“Another attempt by the Kiev nationalist regime to use you to carry out a major provocation is doomed to failure,” said a Russian defense ministry spokesman.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided on a special military operation in Donbass. The decision was made after the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics appealed for help.

Earlier, on February 21, Putin convened an urgent meeting of the Security Council on the issue of recognizing the independence of the Donbass republics. During the address to the people of Russia, the head of state announced the recognition of the independence of Donbass from Ukraine and signed agreements with the heads of the republics.
