Kiev representative: The West has given Ukraine carte blanche for a blitzkrieg in Donbass

16.02.2022, Kiev.

A discussion has begun in Ukraine that the West could turn a blind eye to the military blitzkrieg by the Ukrainian army in Donbass, Ukrainian representative to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on settling the situation in Donbass Sergey Garmash said on February 16 on the blog of former Ukrainian presidential adviser Aleksey Arestovich on YouTube.

“The West would have no questions for the Ukrainian army if the military operation ended within a week, if it [the army] seized Donetsk in that time,” Garmash said.

According to him, he was assured of this at the meeting by a Western diplomat. The truth is that the West would have said nothing about Kiev’s failure to comply with the Minsk agreements if Ukrainian troops had invaded the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic (DPR and LPR) and conducted a quick offensive there.

“If the operation would take longer, Ukraine, as the Western diplomat said, might have had problems with the West. Otherwise, success is never blamed. If, as he said, our troops enter Donetsk within a week, no one in the West will say a word,” Garmash stressed.

The Ukrainian representative to the Trilateral Contact Group actually stated that NATO was tacitly provoking Kiev to attempt to seize the territories being not under Kiev’s control by force.

In fact, this confirms the data on the preparation of the Ukrainian army for an offensive operation, a sign of which was the concentration of Ukrainian troops near the borders of the DPR and LPR in recent weeks. However, exercises of Russian troops near Ukraine have cooled down the “warmongers.”

In this context, Russia’s constant accusations from the West of wanting to “attack Ukraine” are a cover to justify an attack by Kiev’s troops. From Ukraine comes evidence of the shooting of a fake video about a “Russian invasion,” after the spreading in of which the Ukrainian army should go on an alleged counteroffensive and try to quickly seize Donbass.

The West has been accusing Russia of preparing an invasion of Ukraine since early November. The information campaign began with a series of articles in major Western publications, after which top US and NATO officials joined the game.

At the same time, planned exercises of Russian troops and the order of their deployment on their own territory were enough to spin a new myth about the “Russian threat.” This topic has already been used to develop new sanctions and arms supplies to Ukraine.
