Only Ukraine itself could provoke hostilities in Donbass, and in this scenario there would be a response, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 4 on the Topic program on the Donetsk Union TV channel.
There is a small chance that Russia will be able to soften relations with the United States by some “gifts” to President Joseph Biden, Sergey Kurginyan said. In this case, the cold war between the West and Russia could become less acute for a while.
In the case of softening relations with the West, Ukraine will stop rattling weapons and demonstrate readiness for a war against Donbass, the political scientist explained.
“If military actions unfold in your region (Donbass), this will happen only on Ukraine’s initiative. Only on its initiative. Any talk that it could be another way is an absolute bluff,” stressed Sergey Kurginyan.
He pointed out that Ukraine may strike because of its own internal political circumstances or on the instructions of the US. “Then there will be a response, as I see it,” the expert explained.
Since the Fall 2020 Ukraine has been amassing its forces and heavy weapons on the eastern border. According to military experts and analysts, the number of Ukrainian troops on the border with Donbass reached 200 thousand by the spring 2021.
After the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the United States, Kiev started military preparations on the border with Donbass. The Russian leadership then made a warning that the potential aggressor could receive a response like it has never seen before.
