The Ukrainian authorities have only two strategic plans for the future, political scientist, crisis analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time social movement Sergey Kurginyan said on May 17 on the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on the Russia One TV channel.
“The first one is just to surrender to Russia. It is to implement the Minsk agreements or just give up Donbass. It also means signing something on Crimea, getting large financial flows in return, and becoming a pro-Russian state,” the political scientist said.
There is also a second strategic option – it is to attack the republics of Donbass without any regard for norms. Ukraine will illicit a response from Russia and will be defeated. As a result of this defeat, it will lose most of its territories.
“After that on some small territory, [of Ukraine] can start to create itself as something new … For example, as Galician NATO member or something else,” the analyst stressed and added: it is possible that the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has enough internal adventurism to start aggression in Donbass.
Sergey Kurginyan believes that Zelensky can maintain himself in power by war only, because he has alienated the electorate in southeastern Ukraine, but cannot gain the full support of the nationalist voters in the West of the country.
