Kurginyan: Islamism is being used to destroy Islam

27.05.2021, Moscow.

Islamism is a tool aimed at the destruction of Islam and rearrangement of the world, political scientist, crisis analyst and the leader of the Essence of Time social movement Sergey Kurginyan said on May 19 on the air of the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on the Russia One channel.

The political scientist drew a line between Islam and Islamism, and he reminded how brutally Islamists deal with members of traditional Muslim denominations.

“I hope my words will not be interpreted as Ismalophobic. Islam is a great religion, a wonderful one,” Kurginyan stressed. “However, Islamism is a tool aimed at destruction of Islam among other goals. Do not we know what happens to Sufis worldwide?”

The analyst noted the role of the USA, which will “help destroy” Europe, but which has its own big domestic problems.

“We are moving towards a rearrangement of the world and creation of a broad ghetto on the periphery and a narrow core with very dubious qualities,” Kurginyan concluded.

A number of persecutions of Sufis by radical Islamists have taken place over the recent years. For example, on June 25, 2015, ISIL (organization banned in Russia) militants bombed the graves of the Shia Saint Muhammad Bin Ali and the Sufi religious figure Nusrat Abu Bakr al-Din.

In 2016, Islamists led the oldest Egyptian Sufi Sheikh Abu Harraz, who was over 100 years old, to the yard in front of his home, where they cut off his head.

On November 24, 2017, during a Friday prayer in the al Rawdah Sufi mosque on Sinai, terrorists, allegedly from the same organization, detonated a bomb and opened fire killing over three hundred believers including 27 children. This became the largest terrorist attack in the modern history of Egypt.
