The conflict between Palestine and Israel may spiral into a large-scale conflict if the United States intervenes militarily, military expert and editor of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Aleksey Leonkov said in an interview with Rossa Primavera News Agency.
According to the expert, the conflict, which has escalated and during which the sides display unjustified brutality, will continue until the sides tire of war.
The situation is complicated by the fact that unlike Russia and a number of international organizations, which call on the warring parties to come to their senses, other countries have decided to support one side of the conflict.
For example, Iran has stood up for Hamas. Brigade General Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force, stated that Tehran “fully supports” the struggle against Israel. Turkey, which came out in support of the Palestinians, also instigated the conflict. Moreover, unlike the situation with the Syrian conflict, the entire Arab world took the side of Palestine in this war.
Israel has been backed by the United States which has already revealed the inconsistency of its position. Earlier, Washington had moved its embassy to Jerusalem, which almost led to a new outbreak of intifada. According to the expert, the USA can influence the development of the conflict.
“Much depends on the role of the USA here. If they intervene in the conflict, intervene militarily, it will cease to be a regional conflict,” Leonkov stressed.
