15.03.2024, Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to define priority tasks for creating a nuclear facility in space. This was announced on March 14 at a meeting with government members.

“You have now mentioned some areas in which we have good competencies and, moreover, even have such achievements that we can be proud of, that we can count on in the future. For example, the nuclear facility you mentioned,” the president said, addressing Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, adding that the work should be financed on time.

Addressing Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, Putin called for defining priority tasks related to the construction of the facility, emphasizing the topic’s importance.

“We’re all kind of used to the fact that we have competencies here that other countries don’t have, but we need to pay special attention to it,” Putin said.

The President specified that in the future the facility should be used to solve problems “that can and should be solved with the help of these technologies.”

In turn, Manturov said that a national project is being created to strengthen Russia’s sovereignty in the space industry. According to the deputy prime minister, among its main directions are “the production of advanced launch vehicles, including reusable ones, the creation of transportation modules based on nuclear facility and, of course, the construction of the Russian orbital station.”
