Media is changing mentality of Germans to prepare them for inevitable war

The media is trying to change the mentality of Germans, convincing them of the inevitability of war, according to journalist Thomas Pany in an article published on February 19 in the online magazine Telepolis.

The journalist concludes that the Germans’ mentality is being gradually militarized and prepared for war by the media. Pany believes that, at the moment, the nation is not ready for war, and preparation is not a quick process. Right now, most Germans don’t like the word “war” and prefer to say “defense,” but preparations have already begun.

The leading German media are reaching out to readers and viewers. Pany gives an example – last week the morning magazine ARD in an article entitled “More and more people want to become reservists”, interviews one of them. In the article, the journalist avoids unsettling words and talks about service readiness and the honor of being a reservist. Readers of the article nevertheless learned that senior citizens, even those over 60, are still fit and in demand for the larger social tasks of reserve service.

The Bundeswehr is looking for manpower, there is a task force for this purpose, as is said both on the screens and from the pages of newspapers and magazines.

According to Thomas Pany, the unification of the nation on the understanding of the approaching war is just beginning. The world will be different. Talking about military potential will not always be as pleasant as in a cozy morning ARD magazine.
