Berlin police prevent Immortal Regiment procession from marching to war memorial in Treptower Park

09.05.2024, Berlin.

German police prevented the Immortal Regiment procession from marching in unified column to the Memorial to Fallen Soviet Soldiers in Tiergarten, RIA Novosti informed on May 9.

According to the agency’s correspondent, the police almost immediately stopped the procession and let people pass to the memorial in groups of ten people. Several passages were blocked, and Berlin residents handed flowers to people inside the fence, asking them to lay them at the monument.

It is noted that the action takes place against the background of the ban on symbols of the Russian Federation and the USSR.

The Immortal Regiment processions marched in Paris, in Caracas and in Frankfurt-on-Main. In Russia, the action is almost everywhere canceled or held in non-traditional formats.

The only region where the Immortal Regiment took place as usual was Kuzbass. In Novokuznetsk with 53,000 residents, about 50,000 people attended the event.
