Russia abandoned ideological confrontation, but the US revived it, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 15 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.
Kurginyan reminded that Russia abandoned ideology unilaterally. “We condemned ideology together with many others. Some went as far as to say ideology was dead. We said we were through with it, ‘no more ideology, any kind of it, ever!’”
The political scientist stressed that if an ideology is reintroduced in Russia, and if it is made by a directive document, it would be absolutely ridiculous.
“But who indeed reintroduced ideology? The US! It reintroduced it unilaterally calling it the struggle of democracy against authoritarianism, and they said that we [in Russia] have authoritarianism as well as elsewhere, e.g. in China,” the political scientist reminded.
He noted that this authoritarianism is discovered strictly in the countries that the US points at. Kurginyan stressed that the formula of an ideological confrontation between “democracies” and “authoritarianisms” is supported by both parties, i.e. the core of the US elite.
“The cancel culture towards the Russians is as serious. When the Russians are belittled like that, and this is done before a war, it will have consequences,” the political scientist explained.
He stressed that Russophobia in the West is rapidly escalating. In this context there is no reason to talk about marquis de Custine as the key Russophobe, Kurginyan noted. In his opinion, new Russophobic initiatives appear in the West every month.
“From the practical point of view, we should discuss different things, and we should pose urgent questions,” the political scientist stressed.
Political writer Egor Kholmogorov in his article Russophobia: A Brief History of Hatred largely quotes the book Russia in 1839 by Astolphe de Custine.
