Russia for the first time outperformed its competitors in nuclear missile weapons, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said on November 4, speaking at the VDNKh (All-Russian Exhibition and Exhibition Center) during an event by the Znanie Society at the Russia Forum-Exhibition.

According to Patrushev, the implementation of the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation contributed to the preservation of internal stability in society, and the building up of Russia’s economic, political, military and spiritual potential.

“For the first time in the history of nuclear missile weapons, our country has surpassed competitors in this field, becoming the owner of unique strategic weapons, including hypersonic weapons, guaranteeing security for decades ahead,” the secretary said.

Earlier, Patrushev said that in August 2008, the West gave Russia a test of strength when it unleashed the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict. According to him, “the attempt, as we well remember, ended in failure for the West. At the same time, we have learned useful lessons, as it seems now. The army was reformed, and unique state-of-the-art weapons were created.”
