Kremlin: UN sanctions against North Korea will not prevent strengthening of relations with Russia

13.09.2023, Vladivostok.

Russia is not changing its position on UN sanctions against North Korea, but they do not hinder the development of relations between the countries, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the Rossiya TV channel on September 13.

The journalist asked him whether Russia adheres to the UN-imposed sanctions against the DPRK.

“Absolutely. Russia maintains its position in the United Nations, in the Security Council,” Peskov stressed.

However, these sanctions have not and will not interfere with the strengthening of relations between Russia and North Korea, the presidential spokesman said.

On September 13, the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un arrived in Russia. They met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The North Korean leader expressed support for Russia’s special military operation Ukraine, calling it a fight against imperialism.
