The Ukrainian military intelligence service was planning a “dirty bomb” terrorist attack on Russian territory, the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) reported on June 6.
The agency said that two pilots of the main military intelligence directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry had been detained. They confessed to preparing terrorist attacks in Russia.
According to the FSB, the air unit was set up to carry out strikes against Russia using light aircraft. Kiev planned to use “dirty bombs” for these strikes, among other things.
A “dirty bomb” is a bomb that contains radioactive elements. Unlike an atomic bomb, they are used not to increase the impact of the explosion, but to radioactively contaminate the area after the explosion.
