Tehran and Washington have reached an agreement to exchange prisoners, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Mehr news agency reported March 12.
Abdollahian said Iran and the US are exchanging messages as part of the talks on the renewal of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. According to him, the sides have agreed to exchange prisoners in the near future.
“Since last March, a document was indirectly signed and approved between us and the US side,” the Iranian foreign minister said about the prisoner exchange. He said that “the ground has now been prepared for its implementation.”
“From our point of view, everything is ready, and the American side is in the process of final technical agreement,” Abdollahian concluded.
The Iranian minister said about the officials that “they have not shown the necessary courage in making the final decision.” Noting that Iran “proposed its ideas very clearly and right at the negotiations.”
