The text of the resolution passed at the mass protest rally in Kishinyov was handed over to the Moldovan government by Marina Tauber, vice chairman of the Shor party, RIA Novosti news agency reported on March 12.

The resolution contains the demands of the Movement for the People. In particular, the document calls for full payment of the population’s gas, electricity and heating bills for the winter months. The protesters gave the government 24 hours to fulfill their demands.

In addition, participants in the Movement for the People demanded that the Moldovan leadership represented by President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Gros and Prime Minister Dorin Recean give up militant rhetoric and strengthen the country’s neutrality.

The protesters spoke out strongly against Moldova joining NATO and against the decision of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party to change the state language from Moldovan to Romanian.

Tauber said that according to preliminary data, about 30,000 people took part in the demonstration in Kishinyov and a similar amount of people were stopped by police on their way to the capital.
