DPR: Ukrainian army discredits OSCE mission

17.06.2018, Donetsk.

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s (SMM) activities are intentionally discredited by the Ukrainian army, RIA Novosti reports citing the head of the DPR delegation in the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination Ruslan Yakubov on June 17.

He said that the Ukrainian armed forces fire from the weaponry banned by Minsk agreements on those towns and villages where the OSCE observers were present a day before. That is why the locals more often tend to treat the SMM observers negatively.

Yakubov noted that the DPR “understands perfectly that this is intentional tactics on the Ukrainian part”.

On the other hand, the DPR spokesman stated that the dialogue between the DPR and the OSCE SMM began to be held at a better level. Yakubov suggested that particularly this became the reason for such tactics of the Ukrainian part.

The truce in the South-East of Ukraine is remaining in force at the official level. However, the Ukrainian part violates it on an everyday basis, which is noted not only by numerous witnesses and victims but also by the OSCE monitoring groups. Nevertheless, this is not always reflected in the organization’s reports. Sometimes the Ukrainian army targets even the OSCE SMM personnel.
