Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva refused to attend the Ukraine peace conference, CNN Brazil informed on May 16.
Da Silva decided to refuse after consulting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira. The reason for the refusal is the fact that the conference does not involve both sides of the conflict.
The global conference on Ukraine was announced in early May and will be held in Switzerland in June. Russia was not invited to the event, the Kremlin calls the conference “pointless”.
