New business of Ukrainian punitive forces: Human “safaris”

17.06.2018, Donetsk.

Ukrainian military organized commercial manhunt in the DPR, Chief of the press service of the DPR Armed Forces, captain Daniil Bezsonov said on June 17, the official DPR site reports.

He pointed out that this kind of hunt is sometimes called a “safari”, and its point is to shoot civilians of DPR using a sniper rifle or other kinds of weapons. According to DPR data, a carbine, possibly of German origin, was used for the “safari”. At the same time, the Ukrainian military does not have this carbine in service.

According to reconnaissance data, the human “safari” is organized by a 30th brigade unit located in Mariinka and a 93rd brigade unit stationed on Dokuchaevsk area. Profits of this kind of “business” are being split not only between the local organizers but also between brigade commanders and Joint Forces Operation headquarters representatives. In early June 2018, 4 people having substantial finances have arrived in the Mariinka region. They gave the money to the Ukrainian military commanders in exchange for the ability to kill civilians on the DPR territory.

The Ukrainian military is frequently violating the ceasefire by firing the DPR’s territory and people with various weaponry. Lately, they have started to fire on localities that have been visited by OCSE representatives on the day before.
