The Central African Republic (CAR) is inviting Russian companies to organize joint mining of minerals in the country, said CAR Minister of Trade and Industry Thierry Patrick, as reported by TASS on July 13.
“We are waiting for Russian companies to arrive with their experts in order to obtain a license and actually get the opportunity to work on our territory, for our country, and to extract ore from us,” the minister said.
He added that it is impossible to obtain a mining license from outside the country.
Russian Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergey Anoprienko met with his counterpart, CAR Minister of Mines and Geology Rufen Benam-Beltungu, on January 16, 2025. The talks resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding providing for cooperation between the two countries in the field of geological research and the economic use of mineral resources.
