The army of Burkina Faso successfully attacked terrorist group positions, AIB wrote on March 4.
Joint operations by ground and air units in February 2025 led to significant successes: the elimination of militants, the capture of military equipment, and the restoration of control over key territories.
One notable operation was Tourbillon, launched by the 20th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in Gayeri on February 28. After several days of intense clashes with terrorists, the soldiers captured a strategically important stronghold 20 kilometers from Gayeri. Attempts by enemy reinforcements to improve the situation were thwarted by precise airstrikes. As a result, the position was fully liberated, and soldiers seized a significant arsenal of weapons and equipment.
On February 25, in Bango and Ouahigouya, air forces successfully intercepted an enemy convoy, eliminating attackers and those attempting to flee. On the same day, in Solle, swift and decisive actions by defenders repelled an attack on an outpost, forcing the enemy to retreat and abandon their equipment. Also on that day, the another gpvernment unit conducted offensive actions in Boucle du Mouhoun, neutralizing terrorist groups.
On February 23, one of the largest clashes occurred in the Tin-Akoff area. Militants on motorcycles attempted to advance towards Zarmakoye, but early in the morning, fighter jets delivered precise strikes on their positions. Combat drones then eliminated the survivors. The enemy suffered heavy losses, and their weapons and equipment were captured.
In other operations conducted throughout February, the military also achieved significant successes. On February 21, in Solle, decisive actions by defense forces forced terrorists to retreat, abandoning their equipment. On the same day, in the Ouonobia area, stolen livestock was returned to the local population. On February 17, in Sanabe and Diapagé, terrorists were defeated, leaving behind bodies and weapons after failed attacks on outposts.
Each operation demonstrates high coordination between units and the determination of the military to restore security in the country. Despite the challenges, the morale of the defense forces remains high. Their efforts are aimed at fully liberating territories from terrorist groups and ensuring peaceful lives for citizens.
