Nicaragua invited Russia to participate in the realization of a canal project between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Laureano Ortega, the Presidential Adviser for Economic and International Affairs, announced this on December 15, as reported by TASS.
Ortega mentioned that constructing a port on the Caribbean side is already underway in Nicaragua. There is already a port on the Pacific side, but its capacity needs to be increased. “We will then proceed directly to the construction of the canal. We expect the project to progress steadily in the coming years, and, of course, we invite our Russian friends to participate,” the special representative stated.
A network of ATMs for the Mir payment system might be deployed in Nicaragua in 2025, according to Laureano Ortega, Presidential Adviser for Economic and International Affairs, on December 12.
