Brazilian journalist assesses NATO’s reaction to Russia’s use of Oreshnik missile

23.11.2024, Brasilia.

Brazilian commentator Pepe Escobar evaluated NATO’s reaction to Russia’s test of the newest Oreshnik missile. He wrote about this on November 23 for the Brazilian portal Brasil247.

Brazilian commentator Escobar stated, “the use of Oreshnik plunged NATO into despair.”

On November 21, Russia used its new medium-range ballistic missile Oreshnik, without nuclear warheads, to attack the Ukrainian defense enterprise Makarov Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named in Dnepropetrovsk.

President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian public via video the day before, asserting that on November 19, Ukraine had attacked towns and villages in Kursk and Bryansk Regions using US long-range ATACMS missiles and British long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

Russia’s use of the Oreshnik missile system was a preemptive defensive measure in response to Washington’s approval for Kiev to strike Russian territory with Western missiles, according to Iranian economic and political analyst Rouhollah Modabber, as reported by RIA Novosti on November 23.
