The Ukrainian militanys destroyed a school and burned down the village of Vorozhba in Kursk Region, schoolteacher Irina Zvyagina said, RIA Novosti reported on 9 September.
According to the woman, most of the residents left the village on September 7, 2024
“We didn’t even have time to get packed: we were given ten minutes to pack. We had only the clothes we were wearing, grabbed what we had time to grab – so we left,” Zvyagina said.
Zvyagina used to teach English at school. Now together with her family she is in a temporary accommodation centre in Kursk.
“The village was partially burned out, some families have nowhere to return. According to the information reaching us, there are drones flying and burning houses,” the local resident added.
Combat in Kursk Oblast has been going on for a month. The deputy head of the Main Military and Political Department of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Alaudinov said that the Ukrainian military had concentrated 200 tanks, 400 armoured vehicles and 12,000 men in the Kursk area.
