Russian air defense destroys Neptune anti-ship missile over the Black Sea fired by Ukrainian militants

The Russian military destroyed the Ukrainian armed units’ Neptune anti-ship missile over the Black Sea off the Crimean Peninsula, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service informed on April 9.

“During the past night, attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs and the Neptune anti-ship missile against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation were foiled,” the statement reads.

It is noted that the Russian air defense also shot down two UAVs over Belgorod and Voronezh regions.

The Neptune missile weighs 870 kilograms. It is capable of carrying a warhead weighing 150 kilograms. The launch range is up to 280 kilometers. Up to 24 missiles can be fired from one system.
