Russian Permanent Representative to UN says he does not understand with whom to negotiate in Ukraine

22.03.2024, New York.

Russia does not know with whom to hold peace talks in Ukraine, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasiliy Nebenzya said at a meeting of the organization’s Security Council on 22 March.

Many countries are calling on Russia to start peace talks with Ukraine. However, it is unclear with whom they could be held in theory, Nebenzya said.

Vladimir Zelensky in a dictatorial style single-handedly decided to cancel the presidential election in Ukraine, apparently afraid of losing it, Vasiliy Nebenzya recalled. Thus, since March 21, he has lost all legitimacy.

Members of the Ukrainian parliament do not participate in the sessions, and the parliament is becoming increasingly disorderly. Nebenzya said there are centrifugal tendencies in Ukrainian society as a whole. Zelensky’s ratings, which the ambassador described as the head of the Kiev junta, are plummeting, and it is unclear who he represents.

“With whom should we maintain a dialog, negotiate when and if necessary?” Nebenzya posed a question. Especially since Kiev has legally banned itself from negotiating. The Permanent Representative urged Western “curators and puppeteers” to think about what their support for the regime, which is sliding more and more toward dictatorship, looks like.
