5,000 military personnel from Poland and Germany to join EU rapid reaction force

The EU Rapid Reaction Force will be replenished with five thousand soldiers from Poland and Germany, Polish National Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on March 18 at a press conference hosted by TVP Info.

“Starting in July, our battle groups of 2,500 Polish and 2,500 German soldiers will be combat ready for a rapid response,” the minister said.

It is noted that such a decision was taken after talks held in Helenuwa with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

The Polish Defense Minister stressed that the Polish-German Rapid Reaction Force will be fully ready only in 2025.

The decision to create a rapid reaction force for rapid action in an emergency situation was adopted on March 21, 2022. It was stated that the EU should act more decisively and quickly in a crisis. In addition, the defense ministers of the EU countries decided “to create a European Rapid Reaction Force of five thousand military personnel for rapid action in various crisis situations.”
