The end of the special military operation in Ukraine will not ease tensions between Russia and the West, they will grow, and this conflict may turn into a large-scale war in Europe, Colonel-General Vladimir Zarudnitsky, head of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Academy, said in an article for the Voyennaya Mysl magazine published on March 7 on the website of the Russian Defense Ministry.
“The policy of strangling Russia is serious and long-term. Today’s confrontation is much sharper than the Cold War of the 20th century. The West bet not just on containment, but on the destruction of the Russian state in its current form,” he wrote.
Zarudnitsky said that the main source of threats to Russia was the United States’ anti-Russian policy. The conflict does not escalate into a clash with NATO only because Russia has a powerful nuclear potential. At the same time, the general believes that it will not be possible to eliminate threats only through military force; a complex of political, economic, financial, and informational measures is needed.
At the same time, the conflict in Ukraine has triggered a process of transformation of the world order, Zarudnitsky wrote. He noted that in the current realities, there are growing opposing currents that cannot be resolved without military force. In this connection, the risks that Russia will be dragged into new conflicts are growing, the academy’s head said.
The general emphasized that the United States, together with its Western partners, will try their best to maintain hegemony at the expense of other countries, as it has already become a way of existence for them.
Rossa Primavera News Agency wrote earlier that philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on February 22 on the program Conversation with a Sage on Zvezda radio that major political figures in the West have withdrawn from process management and are not going to confront the approaching catastrophe. According to him, small-minded people have come to power in Western countries, while major politicians are waiting for the catastrophe to happen to come out of the shadows.
