Situation in the Red Sea benefits the USA, while Europe faces a crisis. Opinion

07.03.2024, Moscow.

The United States is the main beneficiary of the situation in the Red Sea, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 575.

Eurasia Daily writes that supplies of oil products from India to Europe, which broke records last year, are now declining. This is due to the situation in the Red Sea. The bypass route around Africa makes exports from India of diesel and jet fuel from Russian oil to EU countries unprofitable.

The publication notes that Russia was the largest supplier of diesel fuel to Europe until the G7 countries and the EU banned imports of Russian fuel in February 2023. After that, a significant part of diesel consumption was offset by supplies from India. If they stop, it is not clear where EU countries will find alternative suppliers.

“The beneficiary in this case is the US, supplying fuel at exorbitant prices. And the longer the Houthis attack, the stronger the crisis in Europe will be, which is only in the hands of the US elites. The European Union is justly alarmed, and the operation that has begun is precisely related to the urgent need to protect shipping,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
