The Caucasian cauldron is about to boil. Opinion

06.03.2024, Moscow.

Armenia will actually cease to be Russia’s ally in the near future, and then the Caucasian cauldron will start boiling, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 575.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in February that Yerevan was not Moscow’s ally on the issue of Ukraine. He also said that Armenia was “freezing” its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) because Russia had allegedly earlier openly called on the Armenian people to overthrow the government.

The CSTO secretariat said that it had not received any official documents from Armenia in connection with Pashinyan’s statement. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia was waiting for comprehensive explanations of Armenia’s position on the suspension of its participation in the CSTO.

“Armenia has not formally suspended its membership in the CSTO. This requires a relevant decision of the Armenian National Assembly. But the fact that in the foreseeable future Armenia will actually cease to be Russia’s ally is obvious. And then the Caucasian cauldron will start boiling,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
