Polish farmers come out with slogans in support of Russia’s special military operation despite arrests

24.02.2024, Warsaw.

Polish farmers came out again with slogans supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Wiesław Gryn of the Polish farmers’ association Oszukana Wieś (Deceived Village) told RMF FM on February 24.

This time they were put up during a meeting between Agriculture Minister Czesław Siekierski and a protester in Zosin (Lublin voivodeship). According to him, the content of the posters was similar to what was put up in Gorzyce (Silesian Voivodeship) – “Putin, bring order in Ukraine and Brussels and deal with our rulers.”

In Gorzyce, one of the protesting farmers hung a poster and a red flag with a sickle and hammer on his tractor. He was later arrested by the police.

Detained Piotr G. was charged with three charges at once: public calls for war against Poland, public support of a special military operation to denazify Ukraine and propaganda of communist ideology. He could now face up to five years in prison.
