Le Figaro: Rodents eat “environmentally friendly” cables in Western military equipment

23.02.2024, Paris.

Western military equipment, based on “advanced technologies,” is often not adapted to real combat conditions, according to an article published on February 22 by the French newspaper Le Figaro.

According to the article, the conflict in Ukraine revealed significant shortcomings of “sophisticated equipment worthy of NATO.” Some examples of its use there illustrate this.

“Western equipment was conceived to demonstrate advanced technology at exhibitions. However, such things do not always work in the mud and cold,” the publication states.

In particular, the problem of “environmentally friendly” electrical cables in combat vehicles is pointed out. This is caused by rodents who have “eaten the cables on some vehicles.”

“Some protective sheaths for electrical wires are made of corn fiber…,” the article explains.

The problem is said to be minor, but it shows the real quality of Western military equipment.

“Environmental responsibility is poorly maintained in the face of war,” the publication emphasizes.
