Destabilization of any region of the world is the main interest of the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Rossiya-1 journalist Pavel Zarubin on November 5.
Lavrov also said that the popular phrase “double standards” does not accurately describe US policy. According to one politician, quoted by Lavrov, the US actually has one standard – “catching fish in troubled waters.”
“I recently read analytical responses to what is happening, and someone from political figures not in Russia said that it is probably wrong to talk about double standards when we discuss the foreign policy of the West and the United States, because their standard is the same: ‘We are in charge, what we want, we steal. Where we can’t achieve any result, we will destabilize the situation and catch fish in troubled waters’,” Zarubin quoted Lavrov as saying.
Lavrov also recalled that over the past 50 years the US has brought only misfortune and destruction to the regions in which it interfered. According to the minister, this shows that the US is only interested in destabilizing any point on the planet.
“If you look at all the foreign adventures of the United States over the last probably 50 years, starting with Vietnam, there has not been a single story in which they really brought good to that country, to that region in whose affairs and in which they intervened. It just confirms the conclusion that it is in their interest to destabilize everything and everywhere,” he said.
