Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine: There is no place for Russian-speaking people in the country

03.06.2023, Kiev.

There is no place in Ukraine for people who speak Russian, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Aleksey Danilov wrote on June 2 on Twitter.

“Scumbags <…> who think they have the right to speak Russian on the Ukrainian TV and radio channels have no place not only on television, but also in politics and in Ukraine,” Danilov wrote.

This is how the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council responded to the refusal of MP Maksim Buzhansky to switch to the Ukrainian language on the air of one of the TV channels.

On February 21, 2022, at an extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council in Moscow, chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was decided to recognize the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.

After the Security Council meeting, the Russian leader made a televised address to Russian citizens in which he said that he considered it necessary to recognize the independence of the DPR and LPR. He noted that the world prefers not to notice the horror and genocide in Donbass, where not a day goes by without shelling and killing of civilians.

On February 24, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special operation in Ukraine at the request of the leaders of the republics of Donbass. He stressed that Moscow does not intend to occupy Ukraine; its goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. According to a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry, strikes by the Armed Forces are carried out only against Ukraine’s military infrastructure and troops.

On October 10, the Russian Armed Forces began strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, which, according to the Russian government, Ukrainian intelligence services were involved in. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the explosion on the bridge, the Ukrainian authorities equated themselves to the most odious terrorist groups, and “it is simply impossible to leave crimes of this kind unpunished.”

The Russian Armed Forces have been striking military, energy, and communications facilities across Ukraine.
