Investigative Committee of Russia accuses Ukrainian armed units of inhumane tactics in Artemovsk

20.05.2023, Moscow.

Arms and firing positions of the Ukrainian armed units in Artemovsk were deliberately placed close to residential buildings to increase mortality among civilians, the Russian Investigative Committee said on May 20.

Earlier, it was reported that the Russian armed forces had taken full control of the city of Artemovsk. According to Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner PMC, the last part – the so-called Samolet multi-story building – was liberated at noon on May 20.

“Ukrainian armed units in Artemovsk deliberately placed military equipment and equipped firing positions near residential buildings and shelters to provoke maximum civilian casualties,” the Russian Investigative Committee stressed.

“The Ukrainian military also engaged in looting and drove looted goods, including electronics and household appliances, out of the city,” the agency added.

The Russian Investigative Committee also noted that the agency intends “to investigate the crimes committed by the Ukrainian security forces against the residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Belgorod Region.”

On the previous day, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that after Artemovsk was liberated, the city would be restored.
