The liberation of Artemovsk has special symbolism because it took place one year after the last militants in Mariupol surrendered, the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushylin wrote on his Telegram channel on May 20.
“There is a special symbolism in the fact that exactly today we are talking about the complete liberation of Artemovsk, which the Ukrainian propagandists called nothing other than an ‘impregnable fortress.’ One year ago on the same day, the last militants of the Azov nationalist battalion (organization banned in Russia) surrendered in Mariupol. May 20 has already become a special date for us twice,” Pushilin said.
According to him, every meter of land in the city was liberated at a high price.
Pushilin also said that it was now necessary to restore the buildings destroyed by the Ukrainian regime.
