German Writer: US elites ideologically shape German elites

10.03.2023, Berlin.

US elites influence German elites through ideological conditioning, corruption, opportunism and transatlantic training, German writer Dr. Wolfgang Bittner said in an interview with journalist Alexander Boos published on March 8 on the news portal Apolut.

Dr. Wolfgang Bittner recently published a new book titled The State of Emergency – Geopolitical Views and Analysis with Consideration to the Ukrainian Conflict [German: Ausnahmezustand – Geopolitische Einsichten und Analysen unter Berücksichtigung des Ukraine-Konflikts].

Explaining the dependence of the German elite on the United States, Bittner points out that immediately after 1945 Germany was gradually flooded with networks representing US interests. Such organizations include the Atlantic Bridge, the Aspen Institute, the German Marshall Fund (organization recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation) or the Munich Security Conference.

According to the German writer, there are about a hundred such organizations in Germany. A great many German politicians and journalists in leadership positions are members of these organizations.

Most of them have been trained in the USA on so-called young leader courses. The World Economic Forum also organizes similar training courses.

Bittner claims that politicians such as Angela Merkel, Friedrich Merz, Christian Lindner, Norbert Röttgen, Ursula von der Leyen and many others have risen to political prominence through these channels.

The writer draws attention to the fact that politicians from the Union 90/Greens party are particularly active in defending US interests. These politicians include Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Ozdemir, Green Party co-chair Omid Nuripour and Union 90/Greens member of the European Parliament Reinhard Bütikofer.

The author notes that all these politicians rose to the high office very quickly. He notes that it is very natural to wonder what qualifications they brought with them beyond the fact that they had good connections.
