Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament: Militants from Ukraine have arrived in Tbilisi

10.03.2023, Tbilisi.

There is information that a group of militants from Ukraine arrived in Georgia to aggravate the situation in Tbilisi, Georgian Parliament Vice-Speaker Georgy Volsky told journalists on March 10.

He said that the United National Movement (UNM) party, founded by former President Mikheil Saakashvili, would try to prevent the situation in the country from being resolved. There is also a group of radically-minded young people who want to prevent normalizing the situation.

“A certain group of Saakashvili supporters has arrived from Ukraine. These are militants who will try, to use that youth energy to keep this revolutionary process on the agenda,” Volsky said.

After the Georgian authorities decided to pass the law on foreign agents, the situation in the country began to stabilize. Last night, unlike the previous two, there were no riots in Tbilisi. On March 10, when the bills were officially withdrawn, the organizers of the protests announced that there would be no action in the evening and dismantled the stage in front of the parliament.
