Another trainload with military equipment arrived to Belorussia from Russia, the press service of the Belorussian Defense Ministry reported on January 6.
“Another trainload with military equipment, which is part of the regional group of troops, arrived in the Republic of Belorussia today,” the statement reads. It is noted that the strengthening of the regional grouping of troops is carried out to strengthen the military security of the Union State.
The establishment of the group of troops for defense of the Union State of Russia and Belorussia was announced in early October 2022. Russian servicemen started to arrive in Belorussia in mid-October. The number of Russian military personnel in Belorussia will be slightly less than nine thousand.
On January 6, 2023, Deputy Defense Minister of Belorussia Andrey Zhuk announced the readiness of the regional grouping of troops to defend the Union State. He also announced the upcoming joint Russian-Belorusian summer military exercise Union Shield – 2023.
At the same time, President of Belorussia Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the location of the Russian unit of the regional group of troops, where he heard a report on the completion of the combat integration of Russian and Belorussian units and formations.
