Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia will not give up new regions in exchange for frozen assets

28.04.2024, Moscow.

There will be no concessions of new regions in exchange for Russian assets frozen by Western countries. Russia firmly rejects such assumptions voiced in the West. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in her Telegram account on April 28.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal published an article describing Germany’s desire to leave frozen Russian assets untouched. According to Berlin, they can be used in future negotiations on ending the conflict in Ukraine. This leverage would supposedly force Russia to give up some of the new regions.

I don’t know who and whatever claims, but the financial assets are not changed on the territory. The homeland is not traded. And Russian assets must remain untouched, because otherwise Western theft will face a harsh response. And many in the West have already realized this. It’s a pity that not everybody has,” Zakharova wrote.
