Kurginyan: Russia needs a three million-strong army to win in Ukraine

Russia will face a long-term conflict with the West, which it cannot withstand without a three million-strong army, said philosopher, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on September 7 on the air of the Komsomolskaya Pradva radio.

“It suddenly turned out that Russia, the one that was built, has to withstand in a long-term existential conflict against the collective West,” Kurginyan said. He noted that the West has already chosen Russia as its direct and ultimate enemy.

“Maybe, our heroic army in its current form will accomplish certain tasks in Ukraine. However, as for me, I am absolutely sure that Russia will not remain standing without a professional three million-strong army,” the political scientist stressed.

Russia’s armed forces have to be different than those in other countries. Russia needs a different army and a different military industry, but they are connected with the society and its problems, the crisis analyst indicated.

Kurginyan reminded about the recruitment of volunteer units in the Russian regions. “All honor to the governors who gathered the volunteers, but did they gather quite so many?” the expert asked.

The regional authorities that gathered volunteers for the participation in the special operation in Ukraine deserve honor, the political scientist believes, but these forces are not enough in view of the current condition and operations of the enemy.

“So far, neither Bakhmut nor Seversk have been taken, and we have not advanced to the major encirclements that we will have to make, in Kramatorsk and elsewhere,” the analyst commented. He believes that even the current events in Kherson “are going with mixed success, not to say worse.”

“Even if we reach the parameters we need, this will not help us accomplish our strategic objective,” Kurginyan concluded.
