First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN: Where is the reaction of the Western media to the shelling of a maternity hospital in Donetsk by the Ukrainian army?

13.06.2022, Moscow.

First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy commented on the lack of any reaction from Western media to the intentional shelling of a maternity hospital in Donetsk by Ukrainian militants on June 13 on Twitter.

“Where is Western Media reaction? All those @BBCWorld, @ReutersWorld, @AFP etc who were shouting about damage to maternity hospital in Mariupol used by Ukrainian nationalists as a firing position? #Ukraine is deliberately targeting civilians. Will we hear a word of condemnation?” he wrote.

He stressed that the Ukrainian side was deliberately targeting civilians and asked rhetorically whether the Western media would say a single word of condemnation about it.

On June 13, Ukrainian punitive forces heavily shelled Donetsk for an extended period of time. Almost all districts of the city came under fire. Proletarsky, Kuybyshevsky, Petrovsky, and Kievsky districts were hit most intensively.

According to a DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination, more than a hundred rounds of ammunition were fired at the city: at least eight rockets from BM-27 Uragan, 80 rockets from Grad MLRS, 18 155mm shells, and 10 120mm mortar shells.

It was also reported about the shelling of the Donetsk Republican Center for Mother and Child Protection on Panfilov Street. One of the shells hit the building, as a result of which a fire broke out there.

A total of four people, including a child, were killed in the shelling and 22 people were wounded, according to the DPR Territorial Defense Headquarters.
